The Weatherford Fire Department enjoys a class Three ISO rating and is ranked in the top five fire departments in the state. The department is located at 118 N. Kansas, a 10,500 square foot facility that houses all fire department functions.

The Fire Department is under the direction of David Wright, who was promoted to Fire Chief in January 2006. The Weatherford Fire Department offers a full rescue service and has full-time EMT-D's on duty at all times to handle almost any type of medical emergency. The department's newest large rescue truck carries the most up to date rescue tools and basic EMT equipment to protect the injury and help the sick.

It also carries some of the newest A.E.D. equipment for any cardiac emergency. This equipment is mainly used in the city because of the time element involved. The Jaws of Life is also carried on this unit. There is a small set of Hurst equipment on the small rescue unit.

RescueThe Fire prevention program the Fire Department has is considered the primary reason for the low fire losses in the City of Weatherford. The firemen of Weatherford Fire Department work very hard at keeping this program going. They will talk to and tour about 1,200 children annually. All thirteen fulltime fireman and a lot of the volunteer firemen work on this program each year. The Fire Chief is very glad the Firemen of the Weatherford Fire Department work so well together on such a good program.
Fire TruckThis American La France 1,500 gallon frontline pumper truck is a 2001 model with the new six man enclosed cab. This truck and two more frontline pumpers make up the main part of the fire trucks. There are two brush trucks, two rural structure fire trucks, one 5,000 gallon tanker, two rescue trucks, and three support vehicles. The City of Weatherford Fire Department has never wanted for equipment.
The Weatherford Fire Department sponsors many projects during the year including a bicycle rodeo for pre-school children to learn about bicycle safety and an alcohol program in the high school about drinking and driving. The smoke detector program we have in Weatherford is second to none. This insures that people who are having a financial hard time buying one will get a smoke detector in their home
